Kamala är Hindi för Lotus, Nelumbo nucifera. Lotusen har sina rötter nere i dyn, och sträcker sig uppåt genom vattnet på smala stjälkar, för att låta blomman och bladen flyta på vattenytan. På dessa sockor slingrar sig stjälkarna upp längs benet, för att avslutas med blomknoppar, och en stor, utslagen lotusblomma.
Konstruktion
Sockarna stickas från tån upp, med en "figure eight" uppläggning, eller någon annan osynlig uppläggning. Hälen med avkortade varv blir djupare med hjälp av små kilar, vilket gör att den passar bra även på oss med höga fotvalv.

Kamala is Hindi for Lotus, Nelumbo nucifera. The lotus has its roots down in the mud, and strives upwards through the water on thin stalks, letting the flower and the leaves float on the surface of the water. On these socks, the stalk wind their way up the leg, ending in flowerbuds and one large lotus flower in full blossom.
Construction
This design is worked toe up, starting with a figure eight cast on, or invisible cast on of your choice. The short row heel is made deeper with a small gusset, which gives a good fit even for us with high arches. The leg ends with a lace edge whick is worked perpendicularly to the sock.
